about the founder

During my years of searching for Maat (truth,righteousness and justice) , I finally became still and pulled out a pencil to draw a character that could be a symbol for self-sufficiency, community pride, and most of all peace.

The character Hotep first surfaced in the publication called Lunda, where Hotep was the mascot for the Mo' Better Food Conference.

Hotep means peace in the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) language.

ABOUT THE ADVENTURES OF HOTEP

The Adventures of Hotep first showed up in the Lunda Magazine in 1996 to say, "Don't forget your roots."

He reminded the children that "Before violence, There was injustice. Before injustice, there was peace."

Hotep traveled to the farms and saw produce on the ground but knew the people were hungry.

Hotep said, "pick a fruit. Feed a child. Plant a seed. Feed a nation."

The seed has been planted for the children to grow and feed themselves. Now, let them lead the way.
